15th in Broadband - Somebody Finally Gets It


The chart above shows where the United States ranks in broadband adoption rates. I've always been troubled by the fact that we are so far down this list. You may not realize it from your own experience or the availability of broadband in your region, but there are huge areas in this country that have limited or no access to high-speed Internet. Imagine the competitive disadvantage this creates not only globally, but also between kids attending the same school. We have to make broadband more widely available - really ubiquitous - and cheaper for the disadvantaged. This video below doesn't guarantee that we will be able to solve this problem, but it's a good sign that President-Elect Obama at least seems to understand the critical nature of this problem.
